Stealth is a privacy tool, so we take how we handle your data seriously. This policy is written in plain English.
The short version
Stealth runs locally on your Mac or Windows PC. We do not upload your screen. We do not record your screen. We do not watch what you're doing. Network calls are for license, policy, billing, and (on the website) analytics — never pixels. The security page has the architecture diagram and permissions table.
What Stealth does NOT collect
- Your screen contents
- The names or titles of your windows
- The content of your apps (Slack messages, emails, etc.)
- Your personal information (beyond your email address if you buy a license)
- Browsing history or activity logs
What Stealth reads locally
To place blur overlays on your protected apps, Stealth reads:
- Window positions and sizes — so the blur overlay is correctly sized and positioned
- App names — to match your protected app list against running apps
This information never leaves your device.
License and policy checks
If you purchase Stealth, the app communicates with our license worker (hosted on Cloudflare) and Stripe to activate and periodically validate your license. Team copies also download company policy. This involves:
- Your license key
- A stable anonymous device identifier (not your name, Apple ID, or Windows account)
- For teams: work email, seat assignment, and the admin’s policy (protected apps, URL rules, locks)
Your license is stored locally in the macOS Keychain or Windows credential store. Stealth works offline — validation is best-effort and includes a grace period. Team keys fail open on network errors so a blip does not unlock a locked policy by accident; a revoked or canceled license is cleared when the server explicitly says so.
Analytics
The Stealth website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site — page views, download clicks, and referral sources. Google Analytics may use cookies and collect anonymized usage data. IP addresses are anonymized. We do not use analytics to track screen contents, app usage, or anything that happens inside the Stealth desktop app.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Third parties
- Google Analytics — website usage analytics. See Google's privacy policy.
- Stripe — payment processor. Handles purchase, billing, subscriptions, and invoices. See their privacy policy.
- Cloudflare — CDN, DNS, Workers, and KV for this website and the license/policy service. See their privacy policy.
- Resend — transactional email (license keys, team invites, magic links). See their privacy policy.
Your email address
If you purchase Stealth, Stripe collects your email to send your receipt and license key. Team admins and members also use work email for invites and the admin portal. We may use it to send you critical product updates (like a major version release). You can unsubscribe at any time. Pilot request forms are emailed to support and are not used for marketing lists.
Children
Stealth is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top and note it in the changelog.
