Protecting an app

1. Click the Stealth menu bar icon → Settings…
2. In the Protected Apps section, click Add running app to pick from currently open apps, or Browse… to pick any app from your Applications folder.
3. The app is now in your protected list. When Privacy Mode is active, a frosted blur overlay will cover all of that app's windows.

Turning on Privacy Mode

Three ways to activate Privacy Mode:

• Click the Stealth menu bar icon → Enable Privacy Mode
• Press the global hotkey: ⌃⌥⌘B
• Automatically, when a trigger app (like Zoom) launches — if Auto-detect is enabled

The menu bar icon changes to a filled eye when Privacy Mode is active.

Setting up auto-detect (recommended)

1. Open Settings → Trigger Apps
2. Add your screen sharing apps: Zoom, Google Chrome (for Google Meet), Microsoft Teams, etc.
3. Make sure Auto-detect screen sharing is toggled on.

Now Stealth will turn on automatically when a call starts and turn off when it ends.

Custom Blur Rects

You can draw blur rectangles anywhere on your screen, independent of any app:

1. Press ⌘ three times quickly to enter Draw Mode. The cursor becomes a crosshair.
2. Click and drag to draw a blur rectangle.
3. Draw as many rectangles as you need.
4. Press ⌘ × 3 again or Esc to exit Draw Mode.
5. To remove a rect: hover over it and click the × button, or double-click it.
6. To clear all rects: press ⌃ × 3.

Testing before a real call

Activating your license

1. Purchase Stealth Pro at getstealth.app/personal, or start a team from pricing.
2. Check your email for the receipt — it includes your license key.
3. In Stealth, click the menu bar icon → Settings… → License.
4. Paste your license key and click Activate.

Your license works on up to 2 devices at once (Mac, Windows, or one of each). Activating a third is blocked until you free a slot.

Moving to a new computer

Before you sell or wipe a machine, open Stealth and deactivate it from the menu or tray. That frees a slot instantly, so you can activate Stealth on the new computer with the same email and license key.

If a device is lost, stolen, or already gone and you've hit the 2-device limit, email support@getstealth.app with your order number and we'll reset your activations, usually within a few hours.

Team licenses

Stealth for Teams is a volume plan for 5–500 seats, billed annually or monthly. Annual is $36 / $30 / $24 / $18 per user / year; monthly is 10% more ($3.30 / $2.75 / $2.20 / $1.65). Existing customers keep their current rate. Every member gets their own license key (or silent MDM activation). One named user includes up to two devices; unnamed MDM machines use one device seat.

• Buying: whoever purchases becomes the team admin and automatically gets the first seat. The welcome email includes their license key, a shareable invite link, and a link to the team portal.
• Adding members: share the invite link, or invite by email from the team portal. Members enter their email and receive their own key — no account or password needed.
• Managing: the team portal shows seats, members, and their activated devices. Admins can change seat quantity with automatic Stripe proration, remove members, free up devices, reset the invite link, and manage billing and invoices.
• Company settings: the portal can set defaults for everyone (protected apps, blur, launch at login, and so on) and lock any of them. Locked settings stay enforced — if you change them later, every enrolled computer picks up the new value within about five minutes. Employees see those rows as “Managed by your organization.”
• MDM / auto-install: download a macOS configuration profile or Windows registry snippet from the portal. Install Stealth by policy (Jamf, Kandji, Intune, etc.) with the deployment token so employees never enter a license key. Each new person, or unnamed device, uses one seat.
• Removing someone: removing a member frees their seat immediately and their license stops working within about 5 minutes.

Known limitations

• Full screen share only. Stealth works when you share your entire display. If you share a single app window, blur overlays won't appear in that share.
• You see the blur too. The frosted glass overlay covers protected apps for everyone — including you. Hold ⌃⌥⌘P to peek at the real content momentarily (note: viewers see it during a peek).
• Browser tab targeting. Sensitive-tab blur covers the page content only. Chrome, Edge, and Brave on both platforms; Safari on Mac; Firefox on Windows. Add the whole browser as a Protected App if you need the tab bar and toolbar frosted too.
• Auto-detect is best-effort. Stealth detects screen sharing by checking if your trigger apps are running, not by detecting an active capture session. Add only apps you open specifically for calls.

Troubleshooting

I don't see the menu bar icon. Stealth has no Dock icon — only a menu bar item. On MacBooks with a notch, icons may be hidden behind the >> overflow menu at the right edge of the menu bar. Also check System Settings → Control Center → Menu Bar Only.

Blur isn't appearing. Make sure Privacy Mode is active (filled eye icon) and Accessibility permission is granted. Try toggling Privacy Mode off and back on.

App isn't being detected. Make sure the app is in your Protected Apps list and is actually running. Some apps (like Electron apps) may have slightly different process names — use "Add running app" to pick from currently open apps.
